Residents of the Riverdale municipality and surrounding area,

The Rivers & Area Game and Fish Association would like to inform the public of the following changes.

Some may have noticed that the old gravel pits by the town lagoon have been fenced off and a gate across the road with it being locked out.  It is known many have used this area over the years as a location to sight in their hunting rifles.  The association has worked out a land use agreement with the municipality and this area will no longer be available to the general public.

With that being said, Rivers Game and Fish has been working very hard during this difficult year in trying to create a legal, licensed, multi-functional gun and archery range.  There is a lot of work in terms of safety requirements, ground work, you name it in making a range to today’s standards.  The new range will consist of an archery lane, shotgun area, 25m and 50m pistol bays, and a 200m rifle lane. Safety is the association’s number one priority.  Proper safety measures and protocols are being created along with proper designated firing lanes created.  We hoped to have the range operational this year in 2020 but with the onset of Covid-19 it has put us behind schedule.  Finishing touches should be finished by the end of the year and the rest will be in the hands of the Federal Government for licensing approval.  The range opening is now scheduled for the spring of 2021.  Licensing and insurance requirements require users to be members of the association responsible for the range.  Since the Rivers & Area Game and Fish Association will be the licensed operator for the range all users must become a member of the association along with joining the division of the gun range.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may bring but moving forward one can rest assured you will be able to shoot in a legal, licensed, multi-functional range that everyone can enjoy.
